Private Counselling

At Changing Tide Wellness & Support Services, we provide a relaxed and comfortable space where you can feel free to kick your shoes off and relax as we work together to establish what has brought you into the space and how we make the most of our time together.

What is Counselling?

Counselling at Changing Tide is a supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings with a trained professional. Our approach includes evidence-based therapies like CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and Narrative Therapy, and our practice is Trauma-Informed. Whether you're navigating challenges, seeking personal growth, or addressing past traumas, our counselling is here to help you on your unique journey to well-being.

What can Counselling help me with?

At Changing Tide Wellness & Support Services, counselling is your compass for navigating life's challenges. Our supportive sessions, tailored just for you, can help address anxiety, mental health struggles, and various life challenges you may be facing. Whether you're seeking guidance in managing stress, coping with personal issues, or navigating relationships, our skilled counsellors provide a safe and personable space. Together, we'll explore strategies to enhance your overall wellbeing, fostering resilience and empowering you on your journey to a happier, healthier life.

What if I want to do something out of the office?

We know that a traditional counselling approach isn’t for everyone, that’s why we offer Walk and Talk. There is opportunity to have your session in the beautiful outdoors.

When we do a Walk & Talk we will be alongside each other so there is no awkward eye contact or feeling under pressure. For those that have a friendly dog, feel free to bring them along for the walk.

Doing a Walk & Talk is also a great way to get some extra fitness in, although being physically fit is not required as you choose the pace.

Can I get Counselling online?

Changing Tide Counselling & Mental Wellness offer online counselling services to provide accessibility to those who might be looking for support but are outside of the Service Area. This will suit anyone in Australia who is looking for supportive and convenient counselling services in the comfort of your own home. These services suit those in a rural or remote area who are a long distance from nearest towns and cities.

Online counselling is also ideal for those that are unable to leave home and would prefer to seek support in a space that is familiar and safe as well as people who have physical limitations preventing them from accessing the Sanctuary Point office or the Walk & Talk options.

Online sessions will be provided with the same level of service and attention to detail that Changing Tide prides itself on and times for sessions are flexible.

Online sessions are conducted using Zoom and sessions can be conducted via a laptop or a phone that is compatible with the Zoom program.

Counsellor

With a background in Human Resources and a Masters in Organisational Psychology, I dedicated two decades to guiding individuals towards their personal and professional goals. My expertise included helping them identify their motivations and aligning training opportunities with their interests and values.

However, a life-changing event occurred when my son was diagnosed with severe hearing loss. This personal experience led me to embark on a new journey, becoming a counsellor, with a special interest in assisting parents of children with additional needs.. In 2018, I completed a Graduate Diploma in Counselling at ACAP (Australian College of Applied Psychology).

Since then, I've been working primarily with clients navigating critical life transitions, feeling stuck, or overwhelmed. My approach is always person-centred, tailored to each client's unique challenges, encompassing mental health, physical disabilities, grief, trauma, and addiction. I have a particular passion for supporting parents dealing with the complexities of raising children with disabilities or illnesses.

I am a registered counsellor with PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia), and I remain committed to continuous learning. In May 2023, I completed my Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy, further deepening my professional and personal knowledge.
